Glossary · Term
Interactive voice response logic that qualifies, segments, and routes inbound calls before they reach a buyer.
Definition
IVR routing on the call side is the equivalent of ping/filter on the form-fill side. It gathers qualifying information — zip code, age band, interest, consent confirmation — and uses that information to decide which buyer target the call goes to, whether it goes at all, and at what payout tier. The IVR is the first monetization decision.
Why it matters
A poorly designed IVR loses billable calls to hang-ups; a poorly configured one routes qualified calls to buyers that never pay for them. Every prompt in the tree costs seconds of caller patience; every branch decision compounds abandonment or misrouting.
How it fails in practice
IVR quality decays. A buyer's qualifying criteria change, the IVR still asks the old question, and calls route on stale logic. Menu prompts drift out of sync with the voice recordings. Detection requires listening to call recordings, which no one does without a scheduled review.
